Every December I highlight my five favorite things in my studio. Sometimes they are recent purchases; some are tools I’ve had for years.
First of all, I can’t say enough about my Juki TL2200 QVS sewing machine. I’ve had it for several years and absolutely love it. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a great machine that sews only a straight stitch and there are no computer bells and whistles. I like my Baby Lock Lyric that I bought last year, but when I need to sew straight stitches or free motion work, the Juki is my go to.
This OTTLite clip-on light with the bendable arm is perfect for adding light just where I need it when I’m sewing on my Juki. I also can attach it to my cutting table if needed.
I have so many Havel scissors. I was introduced to them back in 2009 when I was interviewing artists for my newspaper column. One of the fabric artist I interviewed gave me one and I was hooked. They used to have promotions where you bought one, and got on free. I not only have them for my fabric, but have some of the duplicates for paper only. These are just a few of them.
This little Purple Thang is great for turning fabric inside out. I can’t be without it.
Then the last, but not least is this little Oliso mini iron. It’s just perfect when working on small projects like small bags and more. It’s amazing how fast it heats up.
There are so many tools in my studio I feel I couldn’t be without, but these are my favorite this year.
Now to work on my ornament for Dave. If you have followed my blog for any time, you know that every year Dave and I exchange ornaments that we make in secret. Then we hang them on our little tree. So many memories on that tree.
Hope you are having a goodย holiday season. I’ll be back shortly with an easy scrap busting project I made for my women’s group.

I enjoyed this! I am looking at sewing machines now, trying to decide what to save my money for. My Pfaff is 30 years old, and while it has worked great, there are a couple newer options I like.
I have not heard of the scissors, but Iโm a collector of them!
Itโs nice to see your ornaments each year! What a lovely memory too!
Merry Christmas!
Dolly, Thanks. There sure are a lot of machines to choose from. Good luck on your hunt! I’ve still not worked on my ornament. Hopefully, I’ll have it done by Christmas!!! Merry Christmas to you too!
